Final Fantasy XIV features five unique residential districts, each with its own distinct character, architecture, and atmosphere. Each district is tied to one of the major city-states and reflects its cultural aesthetic. Districts are divided into wards, with each ward containing plots of various sizes and apartment buildings for those seeking more affordable options.

Understanding the Housing System
Plot Sizes
Each district offers three sizes of plots, each with different costs and furnishing limits:

| Small | 200 | 20 | Solo players, compact designs |
| Medium | 300 | 30 | Small FCs, spacious layouts |
| Large | 400 | 40 | Large FCs, elaborate designs |
Wards and Subdivisions
Each district contains multiple wards. Within each ward:
- Main Ward: 30 plots with shared amenities
- Subdivision: 30 additional plots (accessed via aethernet)
- Apartments: 90 rooms per wing (available to all players)
Personal vs Free Company Housing
There are two types of property ownership in FFXIV:
- Personal Housing: Owned by individual players. Requires a minimum rank in your Grand Company and enough gil to purchase.
- Free Company Housing: Owned by guilds (Free Companies). Requires the FC to meet certain requirements and pool resources for purchase.
